Do I have to be a student?
No. You don't need a school, a club or a referral. High schoolers and students are here, and so are people already doing their own thing outside school.
Do I have to start my own company or come up with an idea?
Not necessarily. Some already run their own company, some look for a team to join, and some only want to get started. What matters is that you want to do something real, on your own or together with others.
Do I have to code?
No. Entrepreneurs, builders, creators, visual makers, craftspeople and event makers are all here. Code is just one way to build, and technical builders come to learn how to sell.
Do I have to speak Finnish?
No. Finnish works, English works.
How old do I have to be?
YNOT is for people roughly 15 to 29. Older builders come as guests and mentors, but the community and its decisions belong to the young.
Is there an application or a selection?
No applications, no selection. Tell us who you are and you're in. You can always bring a friend.
Do I need to know how to pitch?
You don't need to know it yet. Pitching is an important skill, and here you practise it together and get support for it. The same goes for everything else: here you can do whatever you want.
Do you take equity?
Not for now. YNOT is an association, not an investor.
Do you have a space?
Not yet. The goal is a space and infrastructure of our own where even the wildest ideas can be made real: room for events, room to work and tools. Until then we work wherever they let us in.
Do I have to live in Helsinki?
No. We start in Helsinki, but the goal is for this to spread to new places, with a crowd in every big city. Tell us where you are.
What if I haven't done anything yet?
Then you start now. You don't have to explain yourself here, and what failed gets told out loud too.
